Partners Collaborate on Telephone Survey to Attack Howard County Health Needs Despite Being Healthiest in State
The Howard County Health Department and partners Horizon Foundation, Howard County General Hospital and Columbia Association announced the results of the first biennial Howard County Health Assessment Survey, a comprehensive telephone survey conducted over the course of several months during the Summer and Fall of 2012. Maryland Health Benefit Exchange Selects Healthy Howard, Inc to Educate and Enroll Uninsured Residents and Small Employers in Western Maryland
Healthy Howard, Inc. will receive grant funding to provide education, outreach, eligibility and enrollment services for individuals and small employers in Howard, Carroll, Frederick Washington, Allegany and Garrett Counties. Avian Influenza A (H7N9) Virus
Sporadic human cases of infection with avian influenza A (H7N9) continue to be reported in China, but the increase in case counts has fallen off from the month of April, when multiple cases were being reported each day. As of the latest report on May 8, there were 131 confirmed cases of H7N9 with 32 deaths. CDC continues to take proactive preparedness measures in response to the public health threat posed by the emergence of this new virus.
